Q. Why a gondola?
A. A gondola is an efficient form of mass transportation for short, straight travel routes like those found in Ogden city, and can be built for much less than a street car or light rail system. A gondola departs every 25 seconds, does not deal with stoplights or traffic, uses unoccupied air space (not a lane of traffic), is wheelchair accessible, and moves 11-15 mph (from downtown to WSU in about 16 minutes). The gondola can coexist with other forms of transportation including buses and a street car.

Q. Who benefits from these investments?
A. Everyone. Even if you don’t hike, ski or ride the gondola, you will benefit from the economic development, including more than $10 million in new annual tax revenue, 1200 new jobs, and more shopping and entertainment downtown.

Q. What will happen to our trails and access?
A. Trails will remain open to the public and the entire plan gives our community access to

eight miles of new trails to be built on over 1440 acres of private land.

Q. Is Malan’s Basin skiable?
A. Yes. Malan’s has sunny bowls, great north-aspect tree skiing, and receives abundant lake-effect snow.

Q. Will neighborhood privacy be protected with the gondola across the city?
A. The current plans have the gondola averaging 35' above ground level. From that height riders will be looking at trees and rooftops.

Q. What’s the risk to taxpayers?
A. None. Investors will bear all the risk.

Q. Will roads be constructed up the mountain or in Malan’s Basin?
A. Chris Peterson and the City are working on making this a roadless project, even for construction. The use of a construction tram may make this approach feasible.
